Mario's Galactic Adventure Teaser Debuts, Introducing Fresh Faces Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Actors

The collaboration between Nintendo and Illumination released the initial complete preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday. The reveal happened in a special Nintendo Direct that centered on the upcoming animated film.

The sequel to the successful 2023 release The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will propel Mario to the outer limits of the galaxy. Along the way, he discovers a new princess and a powerful new opponent in Bowser Jr., the son of the King of the Koopas.

An Interstellar Journey Inspired by Beloved Titles

Similar to the Wii console classics that act as its source material, Mario will venture away from the familiar comforts of the Mushroom Kingdom to travel across the galaxy. Throughout his extensive trek, he will encounter once more some well-known personalities, such as the Luma, a popular character from the first movie.

But it appears Mario and his brother Luigi will face a fresh enemy in the form of Bowser's irate young son, who seemingly utilizes powers related to metal. Notably, the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not only concentrated on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also includes nods to additional popular titles like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.

Star-Studded Voice Cast Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers

The movie will see the return of the initial voice actors, featuring Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

New additions to the ensemble for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to embody Bowser Jr. It was announced by the CEO of Illumination, Chris Meledandri.

A Big Year for Mario

Mario's latest cinematic adventure is scheduled to arrive close to the four-decade milestone of the initial Super Mario Bros. release. In addition to the movie, 2026 promises to be a important time for Mario and his friends.

Nintendo confirmed a trio of new releases officially announced for 2026, including Mario Tennis Fever, a version for Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a fresh Yoshi side-scroller titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

Release Date Confirmed

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is planned for launch on April 3, 2026.
