NFL Recap: Denver Narrowly Beat Struggling Jets in Low-Scoring Battle
In a low-scoring contest on Sunday, the Broncos managed to secure a close victory over the struggling New York Jets. Quarterback Bo Nix connected on a first-quarter touchdown pass and kicker Wil Lutz provided the game-winning go-ahead field goal to seal the hard-fought win.
Defensive Display Seals Game
Despite recording nine sacks against Jets quarterback Justin Fields, the Broncos found themselves trailing 11-10 following giving up a safety in the second half. Remarkably, the Jets managed just 82 total net yards during the contest.
Nix, who completed 19 of 30 attempts for 174 yards, led a decisive 12-play, 65-yard possession that culminated in Lutz's 27-yard field goal with approximately five minutes left.
Historic Struggles for Jets Offense
In spite of their dismal offensive display, the Jets maintained the ball with a opportunity to drive for a potential victory. But Fields was sacked on fourth down from the Denver 44 after coach Aaron Glenn chose to go for it instead of sending out kicker Nick Folk for a long kick.
The Jets quarterback struggled throughout, connecting on just 9 of 17 attempts for 45 yards. The Jets ended up with minus-10 passing yards, the fewest in any contest since 1998.
"The aerial attack was completely absent," the coach commented following the contest.
