19 of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been earned on hard courts
A revitalized Daniil Medvedev claimed his maiden title for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open final.
The Russian, a ex- world number one, has experienced a challenging year, winning just a single victory at the major tournaments and suffering a difficult moment at the New York tournament.
Medvedev's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and issues with his service game in particular - resulted in him exiting of the world's top 10 and ultimately parting ways with long-term mentor Cervara.
Presently training with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, he has steadily advanced in the past month - climaxing in a tightly fought three-set victory over challenger Moutet.
It is his maiden trophy following the Rome competition and initial on a hard surface after spring of that year.
Victory also means Medvedev has won twenty-one championships at twenty-one distinct competitions.
"It's the first time I have attended a event with my both daughters at once, so to secure a title is really nice," said tennis professional the champion.
"This title is in honour of my second daughter my daughter, because the first title I got when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."
Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his past six finals, including in Halle in the past months.
His retrieving strategy and frequent emotional displays on court had prompted observers to question if his capacity to play at the highest level was finished.
Yet the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, attempting to approach the net and perform positively, reinforced by an better service.
Medvedev recovered from a disadvantage in the opening set against the difficult Frenchman, taking 4 of the last five points to take the lead.
Both players swapped service breaks in the middle set before the challenger, bidding for his maiden tour championship, gained dominance to force a decider.
The opponent defended four initial opportunities in a competitive deciding set before the Russian secured a break to fifteen to serve for the match.
Suitably, Medvedev earned the win with a shot at the front of the court, with Moutet unable to control a shot after a lengthy match.
