The Simpsons Arrives in Psyonix's Hit Game: Unfortunately Not the Vehicle You're Hoping For

It was previously announced that the iconic animated series was teaming up with Epic Games' battle royale, but this isn't the sole place where fans can experience the universe of Springfield. The long-running series is coming over to Rocket League, bringing along an in-game car skin that will also be compatible in Fortnite. That said, if gamers will truly desire to use it is a different matter, as there's only one Simpsons vehicle everyone is itching to drive, and this new offering isn't that one.

The Dream Vehicle

Although most players would undoubtedly love to compete while driving Homer's custom creation—the notoriously impractical automobile Homer built himself in the 1991 episode "the one where he meets Herb"—that's not what players are receiving. We aren't even getting the Canyonero, the enormous truck featured in the tenth season. Instead, players will obtain the Simpsons' standard well-worn four-door, which has been in the family since 1989. Even though this particular car has accumulated plenty of miles, it stands as an iconic element of the show. And for players who analyze the game's car hitboxes, the trusty sedan shares the identical collision model as the Dominus body type.

Additional Themed Cosmetics

But that's not the only cosmetic from the show arriving in the game. The event will also include a series of challenges to unlock more goodies, all of which are inspired by the show. As detailed in a press release, the challenges will require participants to "achieve a certain number of centers and clears as there are the show's years on air, collect boost pickups as if your navigation is set to The Simpsons’ residence, and travel a specific distance worthy of picking up the perfect donuts!"

While the full lineup of earnable items isn't yet revealed, here is what has been confirmed up to this point:

  • Blinky topper
  • Homer's hedge-themed banner
  • Waste wheels
  • 20,000 XP per challenge

Based on promotional images is a reliable guide, it seems fans will also receive wheels featuring a television displaying The Simpsons' title sequence, alien antenna toppers, a sprinkled donut boost trail, and boost effects themed to burning tires and Krusty Burger.

Launch Dates and Crossover Details

This event lines up with the extensive The Simpsons invasion of Fortnite's island, which brings a completely new playable area of Springfield, as well as a month-long seasonal progression system. The Rocket League x The Simpsons celebration launches on Saturday, Nov. 1 and concludes on November 17th.
